Professional and Financial Survival in the Current Economy
Presentation by Jack H. Luckhardt, CSP, ARM

In every recession or economic downturn, there are always individuals who seem to come out ahead, and even thrive. Is the current economy really that bad? Well, it certainly is different and in a lot of ways slower. This is an “out of the box” presentation that is sure to stimulate your thinking. The presentation will touch on such topics as:

  • Looking at the economy from different perspectives
  • How safety professionals can use organizations like ASSE to network and strengthen their position
  • The importance of banding together as professionals in these economic times
  • Personal strategies to place you in a stronger position in your current job or position; increasing your value
  • Developing alternative or secondary sources of income…things you may never have considered; what can you do right now
  • Where to find good information to guide decisions that affect your professional practice and your finances
  • What you should be reading

This presentation will be really different from any presentations you have heard at a chapter meeting before, and will be packed with practical suggestions that you can put to work for you.

Jack Luckhardt has been a member of ASSE for 30 years, and has been active in the safety profession for 34 years. He holds a degree from the University of Maryland, and is both a Certified Safety Professional and an Associate in Risk Management. In his 30 years with ASSE, Jack has been a member of 5 different chapters, and served as chapter president for 3 of those chapters. Jack served as a Regional Vice President for Region VI, and has been a past candidate for Senior Vice President of the Society. He has served on numerous ASSE National Committees including Admissions, Finance, Compensation, Credentials, and the Body of knowledge Task Force. In 34 years of service in the safety profession, Jack has only spent 6 months “on the bench,” during which he worked in retail sales.
